<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>The dataset provided includes point data for use in GIS that represents public crossings in North Carolina. Only open and inactive crossings are included; closed crossings have been omitted. Attributes for each crossing inculde the crossing's FRA identification number and the latitude and longitude of the crossing. Crossing location and status were verfied by cross-referencing Federal Railroad Administration public crossing database </SPAN><SPAN>with </SPAN><SPAN>North Carolina Department of Transportation Rail Division's crossing database, railroad company track charts and aerial imagery. Where in doubt, crossing status has been investigated by contacting the rail company, land owner, or municipalilty within whose jurisdiction the crossing falls. The attributes are derived directly from NCDOT's State Authoritative Rail and Highway (SARAH) database.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV> |
